I've always been described as a folk artist. I've had no art education although I went to college to be a writer. I started making carved and painted folk art 35 years ago, after my father sent me a painted carving that he had made. My art is carved on white pine, painted with acrylics, often with a gold leafed border to bring the piece alive. I've been doing a lot of "guard dog" pictures in the past year, so I thought it would be interesting to show a picture of one of my recently completed dog pieces.
This one is called Guard Dogs (Three Against One) #12. It's designed to hang on the wall or sit on a shelf or table. Size is 11"T x 9.75" W X 1.5"D. The sun on this piece is made out of copper.
I just discovered your art while googling for American Folk Art. I absolutely love and admire your work.
Have a great day!
Renée, from Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
