Although I am talking about Ear to the Wind in the present tense, all this painting work I am talking about took place last summer, when I began a "sparklies" phase. I began to add brass tacks to up the snap of various pieces that seemed a little bit flat. The word "snap' is one I got from my signmaker days, where I heard it used to refer to the energy or vigor of an image, as in "that sign has a lot of snap".
