Amish Farmer Harnassing his Four Horse Team

I have been having fun working on painting this woodcarving of an Amish farmer harnessing his four horse team. Amish farmer harnessing his horses, unpainted...

 

 

Because the horses and the Amish farmer are both dark, it's been a challenge. I started out with the horses painted a dark chestnut brown but I have had to progressively lighten them so they stand out in contrast with the farmer.
